Labyrinth: continued
I realise I didn’t ever actually get on to mentioning Labyrinth. Well, as you know there’s that scene when Sarah eats the peach given to her by Jareth via Hoggle, which sends her into a dream where she’s at a masked ball, and everyone has these amazing masks which are a sort of fusion of Venetian and Goblin. So decided to re-watch that sequence to check out the masks. They are highly cool, but I think I will go for something a little more traditional.
A bit of Googling, however, turns up exciting things like The Labyrinth of Jareth Fantasy Masquerade, which is an annual masquerade in Hollywood, and Goblin Art which does some amazing masks.
I’m thinking of something along these lines, or possibly this although if possible I will hire rather than buy as I don’t especially want to spend £40 on a mask I’ll wear once…
Umm… back to Labyrinth, though. I ended up watching the “making of” documentary that’s on the DVD, and it just made me think about the astonishing about of time, effort and creativity that went into the film. It is a great film. I must watch it again soon.
Torchwood
Fun. I will keep watching the series. There were some joyous lines in it. The scriptwriters do seem to be quite obsessed with sex. Must be the Captain Jack effect.
A Masked Ball! How cool! I’ve always wanted to go to one of those! Is there dancing too? And a big demasking or what it’s called at midnight? Tell me about it! :-)
