End of the first real week
At times it’s been immensely frustrating, due to knowing so little about the right way to prepare a test pack, or how to copy tables, and other stuff. But people have been very helpful, and today we had a session on a couple of the main utilities for working with DB2 tables, which was quite useful.
Watched last week’s QI last night, and both this week’s and next week’s (on BBC4) this evening. It’s such fun! And I note from the webpage that the theme music is by Howard Goodall. From his site I discover that he’s written more TV themes than I’d realised, including that for Red Dwarf; some Red Dwarf music goodies are to be found on Mr Goodall’s Red Dwarf page!
On Wednesday Apple announced PowerMacs with dual-core G5 processors at 2GHz, 2.3GHz and the Quad with 2 dual-core processors at 2.5GHz. Very nifty. I’m contemplating buying the 2GHz machine sometime after Christmas, but the fact that I’d also want the 20″ Apple cinema display, at least 1GB extra RAM, AppleCare Protection Plan and Logic Pro 7 means I’d be spending a very lot of money. Not quite sure I can justify it to myself. :S
I have an audition for the Cavendish Singers the week after next. I need to prepare a piece; not sure what to choose! Could go for Vaughan Williams’ The Vagabond but will have a look through my music. I’ve also been in touch with my piano teacher regarding starting lessons again after a break of over 3 years. So the classical music aspect of my life is starting up again.
Good to hear you’ll be doing music again! So how are teh Cavendish Singers? How big? What kind of music do they do? Hope you get in! But I’m sure you will :-)
